System Description
The electronics that FreeTron Bifuel system communicates with is called CAN-Bus and is present in any modern truck, it controls the LPG / Autogas – injection into the diesel engine. An evaporator for converting the liquid gas into a gaseous state, valves, injectors, gas hoses, and gas tanks complete the system.
Security
All components of the FreeTron Bifuel System are EN 67-R-07 certified. This is the European wide standard for LPG installations in vehicles. During operation of a diesel engine, the system is straightforward. The use of LPG / Autogas reduces the thermal load of the diesel engine, due to better combustion. The FreeTron Bifuel system enhanced by the improved combustion of alternative fuel improves greater safety for the diesel engine. This increases the life expectancy of diesel engines significantly. In addition, different levels of security have been considered:
a) The FreeTron Bifuel system turns on only when the water temperature allows a smooth operation of the evaporator.
b) In case of an empty gas tank, the power to the FreeTron Bifuel system is automatically turned off. You will then continue without problems with diesel since the diesel engine has not been modified in any way.
c) If the turbo pressure drops below a predetermined value, the system interrupts the gas injection. This ensures that it only uses gas when it is really necessary.
Operation
The FreeTron Bifuel system is controlled by an ECU, which is based on a Motorola 16 bit processor. The ECU has an interface to the CAN bus. Through the CAN bus the FreeTron Bifuel system receives its signals.
The information on key characteristics of the motor during operation, ex. number of revolutions, turbo pressure, speed, acceleration, braking, etc. From this data, the ECU calculates the exact amount of gas to be injected by means of a three-dimensional gas fuel diagram. Through this technique the FreeTron Bifuel system can be used in any modern truck engine. Our trained technicians, use a specially designed control software that can individually adjust the system to any range of operation. For maintenance, the FreeTron software has special query capabilities to check the function of all components of the system. Every 60,000 km, the fuel filter should be changed. This can be done at any garage during the maintenance of the vehicle at a low cost.
