CNG is mainly composed of methane (about 84-99 vol -%), and ranges from a 120 to140 octane rating. The composition of the fuel gas is defined by the standard DIN 51624 of the Federal Emission Control Regulation which defines which substances may be present in which concentration in CNG.
CNG is stored in a gaseous form at a pressure of about 200 bar (about 160 g per liter of fuel pressure gas tank volume). CNG is reduced by a high pressure regulator to about 5 bar.
